Student loan cancelled if you live abroard? (UK)?

Im currently in my 3rd year in university and one of my friends has said that if you live abroard for a certain amount of years then your student loan debt gets cancelled? Is this true? and how many years does it take?

To my knowledge the only way your loan gets cancelled is due to total disability. You can get part of it written off if you are in certain fields and work in disadvantaged areas like medicine, education, etc. but if everyone could get there loans d/c, everyone would move...so no..you can't
