How can I get a loan when I have just lived in the UK for 10 months?
Answers:
Approach your bank, the one you have an account with.
Your employer might be willing to co-sign a loan since it is not for a huge amount.
General advice - a little late for this situation - but go to a bank and get a small loan. A couple of hundred. 30 day repay. Put it in a drawer and pay it back. A couple of months later, do it again, for a slightly larger amount. And so on - build a credit record, against the day when you really need it.
Do you have a credit card? A bank account? Sometimes there are overdraft provisions that amount to a short-term loan. The credit card option is expensive, in terms of the interest they charge - depends on how badly you need the cash.
I'd start with your employer - not only would that be a strong co-sign, it would suggest to the bank that your employer has faith in you.
