Is there anywhere I can secure a loan against my car in the UK?

I am in desperate need of a loan of £1500 to stop my home being repossessed by my landlord. We fell behind on the rent when my husband was off work ill for over 4 months and we were not aware that we could claim housing or council tax benefit. My husband is now off work again having had an operation to reconstruct his cruciate ligament and his doc has told him he will not be able to return to work until March at the very earliest. I am trying to find part-time work that can fit in around my caring for my husband and two small children (who I have to take and pick up from school every day). Were were not told about the amount of the arrears until it had amassed over £2k and even though we came to an agreement with our landlord (housing ***) and kept it up, they are still taking us to court. The date is set for 18th Dec and I have no-one to turn to. I have got to clear the arrears or we will be made homeless. Previously, our rent record was good.

Sorry to here about your plight, the only thing i can think about is to bite the bullet and sell your car and get a much cheaper one.
I know it's not much help hope things work out for you.
Can't you get 15 friends to each lend you £100? That would surely be best. Pay each back as soon as you can.
Have you tried debt consolidation? This may help.
Go to the Citizen's Advice Bureau for more help. Make sure your husband gets sick pay from either his employer ot the job centre.

I hope this helps. I don't know about the car loan, try asking in high street banks as one of them may do one.
